Started in November 2003 by three local artists, Artshed has gone from strength to strength. The gallery’s innovative approach to the selling of original art has given many artists the opportunity and independence of exhibiting in a commercial gallery without the extortionate costs normally associated with going it alone. Artshed hosted its first Contemporary Art & Sculpture Fair in May 2004, exhibiting work by over 150 artists including original prints by some leading 20th Century artists including Picasso, Tracey Emin, Howard Hodgkin, Chris Ofilli, Anita Klein amongst others.
Artshed shop is a retail outlet for fine art supplies as well as stocking a wide variety of clays, tools and glazes for the ceramicist. The shop includes a bespoke framer who offers an exceptionally fast and efficient service. Additionally, the shop exhibits many arts & crafts from artists giving them the opportunity to sell their work on a commission only basis, providing an exceptional variety of goods and services for the visitor.
Artshed runs a comprehensive programme of workshops for adults and children, from beginners to the more experienced artist. Artists and practitioners can set up and run their own courses and workshops or hold large group exhibitions in the gallery. Artshed also has kiln firing facilities available for hire. Located on a new leisure complex featuring a Restaurant, with views over the Rib Valley, Function Room, Fishing Lakes and Golf Course, Artshed brings a creative focus to this mix of leisure opportunities. Together the facilities of Artshed provide an all round artistic experience, not only for the artist, but for the collector, enthusiast and visitor alike.
Artshed has full disabled access and facilities.
